EPS-Korea Language Exam To Start Early Next Year

Dec 28, 2009

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has announced that the application and examination for the EPS Korean Language Test (EPS-KLT) will start early next year.

Filipino workers who would like to work in Korea or apply through the EPS program should start preparing for next year’s examination.

On the other hand, POEA administrator Jennifer Jardin-Manalili also announce that the POEA and Human Resources Development Service (HRD Korea) finally signed the Service Commitment Agreement (SCA) last December 3 which covers the new EPS-KLT under the renewed Memorandum of Understanding between Department of labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Ministry of Labor (MOL) Korea.

Manalili said that formal language trainings is not yet officially required, however it would be easy for the jobseekers who wished to work in Korea to take the exam since there are Korean companies who prefer workers who are familiar with the Korean language.

The POEA administrator also gives advice to all jobseekers to Korea to watch for future advisories relative to EPS-KLT registration dates and venues.

Administrator Manalili advises interested jobseekers to Korea to watch out for future advisories relative to EPS-KLT registration dates and venues.

The new EPS-KLT costs US$17 or more or less Php800 compared to last year’s US730 which is a little costly to the examinees. The POEA also remind the interested examiners that the EPS-KLT does not guarantee a job but will juts provide the opportunity to be selected by Korean employers through the POEA and HRD Korea recruitment arrangements.

Interested applicants may also register online through the POEA website. Applicants should not be more than 38 years old; preferably male and who have at least one year work experience and not restricted to travel to Korea.

Manalili finally added that interested applicants may browse POEA website or the HRD Korea to view EPS-KLT Reviewer which includes pool of test questions from where the 50 test items on reading and listening will come from. Those who have taken up prior Korean Language Course may get in touch with the TESDA Language Skills Institute to enroll for a Refresher Course.
