Guidelines For Nurse and Caregiver Applicants in Japan

Jan 10, 2010

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) via their official website releases an article that specifies the experiences of the fist batch of Filipino nurses

and caregivers who were hired via the Japan Philippines Economic partnership Agreement (JPEPA) and are now doing their on the job training (OJT).

According to the POEA Administrator, Jennifer Jardin-Manalili the said article aims to serve as a guideline by offering relevant information that will be useful for all nurses and caregivers who also wish to work in Japan.

The tips and reminders that Manalili shared covers the JPEPA hiring process from the selection process to actual deployment. These are the things that POEA wants every nurse and applicants that wish to work in the hospital and caregiving institutions in Japan:

Manalili said that applicants belonging to the younger age bracket of 20-35 year olds have advantage over older applicants. Even though there is no specific age requirement, majority of those who were hired are the younger applicants.

Once selected, the applicants are reminded that the 6- month language training is a very important requirement. So it is a must that they are ready and wiling to commit to the Monday to Saturday schedule of the training for the entire six months. Applicants who have doubts that they can attend and finish the course are advised to think hard before submitting their applications.

Meanwhile, applicants who have reached the minimum requirement of Level II of Japanese Language Proficiency may be exempted from the language training and immediately proceed with their on the job training.

It is also a must that applicants are physically and mentally fit to be able to meet the demands of the training and adjusting to the new culture.

The 2ndbatch of recruitment has started and is expected to be completed at the first part of the year. Interested applicants are encouraged to register here: http://www.eregister.poea.gov.ph/ereg/ereg.asp

Online registrants are also reminded to keep updating their profile and remain active to have a bigger chance of being included in the matching process. They should also ensure that all documents presented are authentic and complete. The POEA will also conduct pre-employment seminars bases on the experiences and pointers that were shared by those belonging in the 1st batch.
