Good news for all Filipino workers who wish to work in South Korea. A news report that was aired on ABS-CBN said that the Asian country has open up more than 10,000 job opportunities for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). South Korea trust the capabilities of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) so they even lower their standards and requirements to able to hire more Filipinos.
This year, South Korea announced that they are in need of 10,000 foreign workers to fill up vacant positions for the following industries: textile, food, electronics, chemical and metal. Since they prefer Filipino workers, they said that they will be accepting even applicants without work experience and those who were only able to finished secondary education. The news report cites that jobs in Souh Korea aoofer a highet salary than other countries that offer same jobs.
The things that aspiring OFWs should be concerned of is the medical exam and the language exam. Applicants need to prove that they are fit to work and display fluency in the Korean language.
Deployment of OFWs in South Korea is on a government to government basis or through the Government Placement Branch (GPB) so applicants need not pass through a recruitment agency to be hired.
Being employed through the GPB scheme has several advantages. For one, OFWs need not comply with the agency’s requirement and are assured of better protection. Also, GPB-hired applicants do not have to pay for placement fee.
