If you’re looking for beaches that are less mainstream, check out the following:
Caramoan Island, Camarines Sur. There is more to Camarines Sur—or CamSur as what it’s been famously called now—than water sports. Located in the lower eastern part of this province is Caramoan Island where white sand beaches, limestone cliffs and lagoons will surely help you relax.
Samal, Davao. The Island Garden City of Samal offers unspoiled beaches perfect for those who are sick of commercialized shore. Get your family to bike on its terrain and dive to see life under water.
Ticao Island, Masbate. Another off-the-beaten-path destination starting to get famous is this island in the Bicol region. The Halea Nature Park is home to giant Manta Rays, your kids may want to meet. Beaches surrounding the island are said to be so beautiful those who’ve been there don’t even want others to know about it.
If you want to unwind away from the beach, you may want to consider these:
Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. Located in Bagac, Bataan, Las Casas is an open-air museum and heritage park where a collection of 27 Spanish Colonial buildings and stone houses (bahay na bato) can be checked out. Calesa rides are available and a restaurant can easily satisfy hungry tummies after the trip. There is a resort where you can spend the night over, as well.
Sagada, Mountain Province. The long drive might turn you off but there are many things you can do in Sagada such as trekking, exploring caves and waterfalls, spelunking, bonfires, picnics, rappelling, visiting historical sites or just waiting for the sunrise with your loved ones.
Cagayan. Grasslands, mountain, jungles and old Spanish churches are just some of the gems you can find in this province in Luzon. The seven-chambered Callao Cave, for instance, is a different haven for those who want to hear mass.
