New Airport Scam Targeting OFWs
Jan 10, 2016
After the “Laglag-Bala” scheme, it looks like another scam is lingering the airport, aiming to prey on overseas Filipino workers.
A Facebook post shared exposed another anomaly at NAIA Terminal 3.
It goes when officers of the Bureau of Immigration at the airport informed an OFW that he has the same name of a criminal from Bulacan.
The OFW defend himself and told the BI officers he was not from Bulacan but from Laguna instead. He also showed his clearances from the NBI and police as proof of his innocence, adding that he had been out of the country for his overseas job in Dubai several times before.
When the OFW’s lawyer sister insisted to talk to the immigration personnels over the phone, they refused and cleared the migrant worker.
The said Facebook post had already reached more than a thousand share, creating awareness to all travellers, especially OFWs, about the new modus at the airport.
