OFW Scam Victims in HK Fears Recruiter will Leave
Mar 14, 2016
Filipino household service workers are afraid that their fellow OFW will depart Hong Kong and fly to Canada after recruiting them to invest in the Emgoldex scam.
Reported by the
Hong Kong news, the HSWs asked Vice Consul Alex Vallespin if he could helped him bar the recruiter named MJ from leaving Hong Kong.
Vallespin told they can only forward their complaint to the Office of the Undersecretary for the Migrant Workers Affairs (OUMWA), and a court case, if warranted can be filed against those who fooled them into investing to the bogus scheme.
More than 450 OFWs in Hong Kong were deceived to invest in Emgoldex, accusing MJ of using the money for personal benefit.
MJ said he would not leave because he had promised to pay the P255,000 until June for the seven accounts in Emgoldex that have never been encoded in the ‘Germany-based’ company.
