From Mechanical Engineer to Marine Engineer now Possible!

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) together with the Maritime Training Center (MTC) is now offering an experimental course that will give graduates of Mechanical Engineering a chance to pursue a career as a Marine Engineer.
The program that started last March 1, 2006 at Marine Academy of Captain in
Students will be evaluated upon completion of the six to eight months experimental course and four months on-board training. The study, training, diploma, and assessment certificates are the requisites for one to be allowed to take the Marine Engineer Licensure Examination.
The office of Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration (OWWA) in the region would also like to inform all interested applicants that the said experimental course is now part of the Skills-for-Employment-Scholarship Program (SESP). This benefit is available to qualified children of Overseas Filipino Workers.
OWWA Requirements:
- Not be more than 30 years old at the time of course completion
- OFW parents are currently working abroad
