Never stop dreaming…This is how our featured OFW want to tell everybody wishing to land a job abroad…
My Story
Why did you decide to leave the Philippines? Leaving your own country was really a difficult decision…but I have to in preparation for my future.
How did you get your current job and how did you leave the Philippines? The POEA announced the job under the program Employment Permit System or EPS-KLT for Korea... I applied and I am one of the many lucky Filipinos who had been selected to work here...We’re about 200,000 applicants and I belong to batch 88... I think I’m lucky because many applicants who are still waiting for job order...
When did you arrive in your current location? I arrived here in Korea in April 05, 2006
What were your most memorable moments in your current location? The food!!! I used to eat KIMCHI, which I don’t eat before, I was practice to eat spicy foods...And also the weather, because when we arrived here the weather was really cold…
Tell us what has happened during your stay in this country you have worked in. I’m staying here for about 9 ˝ months now. Before we’re really getting homesick and we really want to go home...because we’re the first 3 Filipino who stay here in Kangwon-do unlike in Seoul or in other cities wherein you can see lots of our kababayan...At first it was really difficult for us to speak and understand their language and culture... but as time goes by we’re about to learn on how to communicate to them. Koreans always tell us that were smart enough to understand them during that span of time of our stay here…And we don’t want them to erase on their minds that Filipinos are HARDWORKING and responsible, we want this impression to spread here in Kangwondo and in the rest of Korea... We always sing the song kay tagal mo ng nawala BABALIK KA RIN...
What are the things that you miss about the Philippines? Of course my family, friends and my girlfriend...the food as well...Although I used to cook Filipino dishes here in Korea and our Korean friends really enjoy the food specially “KALDERETA”. I also missed special occasions like Christmas, New Year, holy week and fiesta...
What is your message to all OFWs around the world? Before I was just dreaming that someday I can land a job abroad so I already prepared myself for all the difficult things that may come...Always put in mind that “EVERYTHING THAT COMES AROUND, GOES AROUND” and all the trials and difficulties that we’re experiencing right now will come to an end!!! I salute all the Filipino worker and I’m proud to be one of them!!! Dahil iba ang galing ng pinoy SIKAT ANG PINOY!!!!
