The federal regulation that prevented H2-B skilled foreign workers from working in military construction projects in the country has been lifted late last year. For this reason, more foreign construction workers, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), are expected to land a job in Guam for military projects. 

In the previous report of the OFWGuide.com, the issuance of the H2-B visa is about to reach the quota, but late last year, quota for the issuance of the said visa was lifted since it is the most possible way for the realization of the construction of military projects in Guam.

Filipino construction workers have a great chance to get hire in the construction project in Guam as the H2-B visa prohibition has been lifted by the federal government.

Hiring of foreign construction workers for military project in Guam will be conducted by private contractors and the military will not be involved in hiring of workers. About 10,000 workers or more are expected to bring the construction of housing facilities, training venues, renovation and construction of military facilities, and other infrastructure for the relocation of 8,000 marines and their families from Okinawa.
