Understanding the EPS-KLT

Filipinos who are thinking of working in South Korea are sure to encounter the term EPS-KLT. This is a major requirement for anyone seeking employment in South Korea and applicants sure have many inquiries about it.

 

What is EPS-KLT?

 

The Employment Permit System (EPS) requires all foreigners who want to work in Korea to undergo the Korean Language Training and passed the Korean Language Proficiency Test. This is an electronic system where Korean employers can recruit employees. The implementation of EPS-KLT is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Korea Ministry of Labor.

 

Aside from passing the KLT, there are other requirements to be registered with the EPS. The requirements are listed below:


Comprehensive Resume

Male/Female from 18 to 38 years old

High school graduate with two years work experience

College graduate with 1 year work experience

Physically and mentally fit

Birth Certificate from NSO/Passport

NBI Clearance

Transcript of Records

Employment Certificate

2 x 2 picture (red background w/ full name tag) 

Transcript of Records

Application Form from POEA

No illegal record in Korea (record of illegal entry, stay, overstaying, run-away)

 

Available jobs in Korea for male workers are under the construction, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors. The industry of garments and microchips assembly are open to female workers.

 

Steps to Be Able to Work in Korea

 

Register with the Employment Permit Registration (POEA-EPS).

 

Register with the Korean Language Test Registration. There is a non-refundable fee of USD 30 or Php 1,500.

 

Note: Registration is on a first come first served basis. Please check with POEA regarding the schedule of registration.
