Q: What is your stand in the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona?
Corona is guilty of all the charges against him.
Corona is not guilty, just a victim of a conspiracy.
I have no interest in the impeachment trial of Corona.

Jean Labrador: Pursuing the Noblest Profession in China

Aug 17, 2007

Jean Labrador of Camarines Norte had a decent job in the Philippines as a teacher in a private school. Unfortunately, the salary was not enough for her to live a comfortable life.

For this reason, Jean decided to look for an overseas job. Her youngest brother who is into computers and internet taught her how to apply online. While still employed, she started sending resumes to different agencies and companies in various parts of the world.

After a couple of months, Jean received an e-mail from a recruitment agency in China complete with details about a teaching job in a university. Jean was ecstatic and accepted it right away. The university then sent her the list of requirements to be submitted for her working visa to be processed. That was the beginning of Jean’s good life in China.

Note that unlike most employment frauds that send job offers via email, Jean’s case is different. The company did not ask her to send any money for her application to be approved.

Jean arrived in China in August of 2004. After three years of working overseas, Jean is enjoying her stay. She said, “When you are in a different country every single day is a day to remember!”

She particularly loves her students. According to Jean, Chinese students are very appreciative of what a teacher does inside the classroom. They will always thank her for her efforts to make the lessons interesting and easy to understand.

An effective teacher with a good heart, there is no doubt that Jean’s students learn a lot from her. To express their gratitude, the students would sometimes invite her for lunch or dinner. Sometimes even to visit their hometowns...all expense paid!

Still, Jean misses her family in the Philippines very much. Her message to all OFWs around the world…We are from a third world country but we are the BEST employees employers could ever have. Always put your best foot forward and show the world we are Filipinos.
