How to Acquire Singaporean Visa

The social visit passes for foreigners are granted according to the discretion of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at the point of entry provided that they can present the following basic entry requirements:

v      Passport with at least 6 months validity;

v      Valid Singapore visa, if applicable;

v      Sufficient funds to last for the intended period of stay in Singapore;

v      Confirmed onward/return tickets (where applicable); and

v      Entry facilities to their onward destinations, e.g. visas.

 

Reminders for social visit visa holders

  1. You are not authorized to be involved in any kind of business, profession, occupation or paid employment while in Singapore.
  2. The number of days that is allowable for you to stay in Singapore is indicated in the social visit visa endorsement given on the visitor's passport. Please check your passports for the arrival endorsement and take note of the period of stay given before leaving the checkpoint.
  3. Overstaying in Singapore is punishable. If you want to apply for extension of your stay you can apply online via e-XTEND or at the Visitors Services Centre, 4th storey, ICA Building, before the social visit pass expires. Application for extension of stay is subjected to approval.

 

Who are required to secure visa in entering Singapore

Nationalities of the following countries holding travel documents are required to have a visa in entering Singapore:

v      Afghanistan

v      Algeria

v      Bangladesh (Except Diplomatic/Official passport holders)

v      Commonwealth of Independent States (Except Diplomatic/Official/Service passport holders for a stay of up to 30 days)

Nationals of the Commonwealth Independent States can enter in Singapore even without visas if they are on transit to a third country, provide that they can meet the following conditions:

o        They are in transit to a third country;

o        They hold a valid passport, a confirmed onward air-ticket, entry facilities (including visa) to the third country and have sufficient funds for the period of stay in Singapore;

o        They continue their journey to the third country within the 96-hour visa free period granted; and

o        They satisfy Singapore's entry requirements. As in all arrivals, the grant of the social visit passes to travelers will be determined by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority officers at the Singapore Checkpoints.

v      Myanmar (Except Diplomatic/Official passport holders)

v      People's Republic of China (Except Diplomatic/Service/Public Affairs passport holders for a stay of up to 30 days)

v      Pakistan

v      Saudi Arabia (Except Diplomatic passport holders)

v      Somalia

v      Sudan

v      Syria

v      Tunisia (Except Diplomatic/Official passport holders)

v      Yemen

 

Aside from the nationalities of the countries mentioned above, citizens holding Hong Kong Document of Identity, Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Travel Permit, Palestinian Authority Passport, Refugee Travel Document issued by the Middle-East countries and Temporary Passport issued by United Arab Emirates are also required to have a visa in entering Singapore.
