Q: What do you think about the deployment ban in Iraq?
It should be lifted because there are job opportunities for OFWs there.
The ban is necessary for the protection of OFWs.
I don't care about this issue.

FAQ’s of the Manitoba Nominee Program

- Maria Theresa S. Samante,
Jul 15, 2009

Manitoba, Canada is seeking skilled immigrants through Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The program selects skilled workers who can be an asset to the economy of the province. Interested applicants are required to have the training/work experience, and language ability to be employed in Manitoba.

The MPNP is open not only for skilled workers but also for Filipinos/foreigners with relatives living in Manitoba, for those with job offers and to international students.

Manitoba, Canada is one of the fastest growing provinces in Canada. It has a strong economy thus more and more immigrants, including Filipino workers, are migrating there.

The Province of Manitoba in Canada has lot to offer for immigrants; nice environment, dynamic growing province, society with cultural diversity, high standards of living and economic opportunities that attracts migrants and keeps them coming every year.

How To Migrate in Manitoba?

Migrating in Manitoba would not be so tedious if you qualify to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) and be nominated for a Permanent Resident Status in Canada.

Applicants to the MPNP must be able to justify why they should be employed in Manitoba. Skilled workers applying for MPNP must have:

  • sufficient training and work experience in their field,
  • sufficient language ability to begin working soon after arrival,
  • settlement supports in Manitoba to assist them upon arrival.

Who Can Apply For MPNP?

Applicants who are interested to apply for MPNP for skilled workers should consider some factors before applying to avoid frustration.

Do you have legal status in your country of residence?

You must be able to present a proof of legal status in the country where you are currently living. Applicants who are presently residing in Canada must be able to provide proof of current status; visitor, student, or temporary worker. Expatriates in Canada are not eligible to apply; you may apply outside Canada, provided that you present a proof of legal status in your country of residence.

Are you a skilled worker eligible to work in Manitoba?

Present all the training certificates and licenses that you have; work experiences and language ability. This will help you find employment in your assessed occupation in Manitoba upon your arrival. However, if your position is listed in the current MPNP Occupational Requirements List, you should meet the specific requirements for the position before you proceed to your application.

Do you meet the eligibility criteria for one of the MPNP Assessment Streams?

All applicants to the MPNP must be able to justify why they should be hired and their capability to succeed in Manitoba.

Do I have sufficient settlement supports?

Since, the MPNP is not a sponsorship program; applicants are required to present financial resources under the applicants’ name. This will prove that you can pay your migration fees to Manitoba, you can support yourself while you are still looking for job and you can settle successfully in Manitoba. They also require that applicants must have at least CDN$10,000 (Php 432,997) plus CDN$2,000 (Php86,599) for each accompanying dependent.

Can I submit a complete application with all required forms and documents?

After passing all the criteria, provide all the required documents listed in Documents Checklist (MDOC) for the principal applicant and all accompanying dependents. Only applications with complete documents will be accepted for assessment.

Watch out on how to apply for MPNP!
