Employers from British Columbia to Conduct Recruitment

  Oct 11, 2008

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration informed that employers from British Columbia, Canada is currently in Manila to conduct a pilot recruitment mission.

The associate director of the provincial Nominee Program of the Canadian province, Michael Chew said that British Columbia would need 165,000 skilled workers in the next five to 10 years. Industries that would require foreign workers are hospitality, food and transportation sectors.

The ageing population and poor educational system are some of the factors that contribute to the labor shortage of British Columbia. They prefer Filipino workers because of the English language skills and work ethics.

According to POEA, recruitment and deployment of OFWs for Canada will be though licensed recruitment agencies and applicants will not be required to pay any placement fee.

British Columbia wants to hire long-haul drivers, food counter attendants, and hotel workers. Applicants for long-haul drivers must have at least two years experience, class 1 license or equivalent, and high school education at the minimum.

Qualified applicants are requested to submit their documents to the following recruitment agencies:  Omanfil International Manpower Corp., Manpower Resources of Asia, IPAMS, EDI Staffbuilders International Inc., and Dahlzen International Services, Inc.

Food attendants and hotel workers may submit their applications to any of the following top agencies: AG&P Company of Manila, Dahlzen International Services Inc., EDI Staffbuilders International Inc., EEI Corporation, Eligardi Enterprises Inc., Gatchalian Promotion Talents Pool Inc., Industrial Personnel & Management Services, Inc.
