Owning a house and lot is the ultimate dream of most Filipinos and OFWs who toiled for years abroad usually save their monbey to be able to acquire a property they can call their own. Scammers Knows this too well so aside from bogus investment schemes like FrancSwiss scam, Ponzi Schemes, etc.; a scam that victimized would-be landonwers also exist and this is called Housing Scam.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that there are bogus jobs for Vietnam offered by some unscrupulous Filipinos base in Ho Chi Minh to unsuspecting compatriots seeking overseas jobs.

The term boiler room was used because it is likened to a space/room inside a ship where steam boilers are kept. This room is way too hot and victims of boiler room schemes figuratively experience the same pressure in the presence of overbearing salesmen.

An advisory regarding a promotional scam via text messaging was recently issued by the Department of Budget and Management. The said scam targets overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.
