POEA Imposed Deployment Ban on Syria

The deployment ban was issued after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) raised the crisis alert to level 2 to Syria. However, the deployment ban does not cover returning workers to Syria.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) released an advisory to inform Filipinos, who wish to work, study or live in United Kingdom (UK) that there have been recent changes in the immigration system of UK. The new policy regarding the Points-Based System of Immigration (PBS) started to take effect this April.

As of this writing, no overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will be allowed to go to three Middle Eastern countries to work. The government recently suspended the recruitment and deployment of OFWs to Bahrain, Yemen and Libya because of the violent protests happening in the countries mentioned.
Deployment Ban of OFWs Remains in Lebanon and 4 Other Countries

The secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Rosalinda Baldoz orders the strict implementation of deployment ban to 5 Middle Eastern countries. As of this writing, employment contracts of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound to Lebanon, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Jordan will not be processed.  
DOLE Reiterates Warning Against Hiring of Seasonal Workers in Italy

Filipino workers cannot be hired as seasonal workers in Italy because the Philippines has not signed a bilateral agreement with Italy regarding the said type of recruitment. Recruitment of seasonal workers in Italy are only allowed in counties where Italy has signed special agreements.

DOLE Warns OFWs Bound To Syria Against Illegal Recruiters

The warning is applicable to all Filipino workers who are thinking of working abroad, but in this particular advisory, Baldoz is specifically referring to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound to Syria. The warning was issued because the Labor Department received a report from the Labor Attache in Damascus, Mr. Angel Borja that there are undocumented OFWs in Syria.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued a warning against illegal recruiters that are offering jobs for a hospital in Israel. According to the DFA, there are no hospitals in Israel that have job openings for Filipino medical workers such as nurses, doctors, ambulance crews, drivers, etc.

According to the Labor Chief., Rosalinda Baldoz, the scammers send an email to potential victims with the pretension that the message came from the Malaysian Immigration Department.
POEA and US Embassy: No Recruitment Fee Policy For Guam-bound OFWs

In a separate POEA advisory, it said “The policy, contained in POEA Memorandum Circular No. 10 Series of 2009 issued in September last year, is in line with US Government regulations which forbids the charging of recruitment or placement fees from a worker as a condition for employment under an H-2B visa."
