Job Description of Gym Instructor

 

Nature of Work:

Gym Instructor provides fitness instructions and gives assistance to customers in enhancing their physical built.

 

Basic Tasks:

  • Prepare exercises plan for clients.
  • Assist clients/customer in doing exercises using gym equipments.
  • Give further instruction to clients on their physical exercise and how to maintain it.
  • Promote and give wellness advices
  • Give diet plans
  • Maintain and secure the functions of gym equipments to avoid accidents.
  • Maintain the cleanliness in the gym

 

Education and Training Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of Physical Therapy (licensed) or Physical Education.
  • A graduate of any 2 year vocational course accredited by TESDA are also welcome but must have experience working as a gym instructor.
  • Must have at least 1-3 years experience working in gym, fitness or wellness centers.

 

Salary Information:

 Local Employment:

  • Gym instructor receives a minimum salary of 380/day plus tips. They can get extra salary by doing p[personal trainings and exercise plans for customers.

 

Overseas Employment:

  • Oman- USD700 or PhP33, 089 a month
  • Qatar-QAR2, 300 or PhP29, 856 a month
  • US-USD45, 143 or 2, 133, 909 a year.

 

Skills and Competency Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit
  • Must have wide knowledge in Physical Education and Therapy.
  • Must know different physical exercises and body building.
  • Must have knowledge in preparing effective exercises according to client’s built or physical/health status.
  • Must have knowledge in preparing dietary meals.
  • Basic knowledge in human anatomy, most especially in muscular system
  • Knowledge in using light and heavy gym equipments.
  • Must be willing to do personal trainings.

 

Employment Opportunities:

Wellness and Fitness centers are very in demand abroad, most especially in the Middle East and US. Because of these demands, high opportunity awaits experienced gym instructors. Gym and wellness centers are also in trend locally, especially in Metro Manila where fitness conscious people increase.

 

Work Environment:

The workplace for gym instructors is very conducive and pleasant since they promote good healthy living. They work can be tiring in times, especially if they are working with body building exercises with their clients. However, gym instructors can enjoy free gym service, these includes using gym equipments for free since they have to keep their physical built.

 

Work Hours:

Gym Instructors often work 8 hours a day. They time may vary if the instructor has private personal trainings with clients that is paid per hour/session.

 

Career Advancement:

Experienced gym instructors can be promoted as gym Supervisors or Managers.
