Job Description of Technical Support Representative

 

Nature of Job:

Technical Service Representative (TSR) works in a Call Center Company that specializes in handling the technical concerns of the customers. They basically assist customers with electric appliances like computers, TV, DVD, laptops and other related gadgets.

 

Basic Tasks:

  • Receive calls from customers
  • Assist customers with their concerns
  • Provide solutions to the concerns of the customers regarding their problem on their appliance or gadgets.
  • Further explains to the customers the provided instructions with their technical problems
  • Discuss the instructions to the customers as clearly as possible.
  • Encode important details about the customers and the computer or appliance.
  • Record and encode the transaction
  • Politely greet and finish the transaction with the customers

 

Education and Training Requirements:

  • A graduate of any 2-4 year course in Information technology or any related computer course.
  • With or without experience (for local applicants)
  • Must have at least 2-3 years experience as a TSR (for overseas applicants)

 

Salary Information:

Local Employment:

  • Local TSR receives PhP12-20, 000 a month

 

Overseas Employment:

  • Singapore: SGD2, 400 or PhP75, 487 a month
  • US: USD49, 451 or PhP2, 375,378 per annum

 

Skills and Training Requirements:

  • Strong use of English command both oral and written
  • Must have knowledge in computer applications
  • Knowledge in computer parts and repair
  • Ability to handle different technical concerns of the customers.
  • Must be patient and polite to customers
  • Knowledge in customer service
  • Can analyze problems and errors.
  • Good communication skills.

 

Employment Opportunities:

Call Center jobs remains in demand locally, including TSR positions. TSR has wide opportunities and they provided with above minimum pay that increases upon regularizations. Overseas, the demands for TSR are also overwhelming especially in Singapore where they are in the process of developing their BPO industry.

 

Work Environment:

TSR has a very comfortable and pleasant workplace. They are provided with a small cubicle that is complete with computer and telephone apparatus. Call Centers provide good environment that includes creational rooms for TSRs to balance the stress that they used to face in dealing tough transactions.

 

Work Hours:

TSR works for 8-10 hours a day

 

Career Advancement:

Entry level TSR with a good performance background can be promoted as Training Supervisor or Team Leader.
