Will You Secure Your Future with Gibo Teodoro? Know Him More!

  Apr 29, 2010

Are you on the Green Team?

Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro, Jr. is the presidential bet of the LAKAS-KAMPI coalition. Unlike Manny Villar and Noynoy Aquino he is not claiming to be living in simplicity and modesty, he admits that he came from a rich family. However, Gibo claims that through his “Galing at Talino”, he can lead the country to the pedestal that every Filipino wants this country to finally achieve.

Gibo’s main plan is to hasten the country’s educational system and provide more stable and long-term jobs for the Filipino. He also wants more protection for the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and provides help and livelihood program for their families.

Part of his platform includes:

·       Education- By recommendation, a substantial and additional two years to the original six years of elementary is needed to prepare young Filipinos for four years of secondary education.

·       For OFWs– The protection of our migrant workers actually begins with protecting them at the point of recruitment. We must install more safeguards so that recruiters can provide more assurances of safety for our OFW’s. There should be a more active network of support systems to monitor the conditions of each and every Filipino worker abroad.

·       Loan Program- Aside from usual scholarships and state subsidies, creative solutions should also be implemented to give every Filipino the education that is rightfully his.

·       Pork Barrel- Competence in fund management is the solution

·       Economy- To avoid a state of progress plateau, the country needs more innovative ideas to fuel the industry and the economy.

Short Bio:

Gibo Teodoro is the only child of Gilberto Teodoro, Sr. and Mercedes Cojuanco- Teodoro, first cousin of late president Corazon Aquino. He and co-presidential candidate Noynoy Aquino is second cousin and both seated as representative of Tarlac.

He is one of the youngest presidential aspirants ever run in the country with only 46 years old; he is born on August 14, 1964. Gibo is married to Congresswoman Monica Prieto-Teodoro with whom he has a son.

He finished grade school and high school at Xavier University and took BS Commerce in De La Salle University. Gibo later took law at University of the Philippines where he top the board exam and finished his masters at the Harvard University.

Political Career:

Gibo seated as representative of the first district of Tarlac from 1998-2007 and became the secretary of the Department of National Defense (DND) on August 2007 and chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) before he resigned and join the presidential race.

Gilbert Teodoro used to support the controversial Reproductive Health Bill but later changed his stand. He stressed that population management is the problem because of limited viable land. Though the government is not the right moral guardian, the debate should not stop there, he said.

Gibo is a licensed commercial pilot as shown on his campaign ad where he is riding a plane and encouraging us to ride with him for change. In case he succeeded and won the vote of the Filipinos, let’s just hope that Gibo Teodoro, through his “Galing at Talino”, will fly the country to success and not lead us to another crash and burn.
