Tips for Hotel & Restaurant Workers Who Wish to Work Abroad

  Oct 8, 2012

Do you feel that you are ready for an overseas job position in the hotel and restaurant industry but wish that someone would answer the following questions in your head:

  • What are the requirements?
  • Can I be hired even without work experience?
  • What is the salary offer I can expect?
  • What are the documents that I need to provide?

Fortunately, Mr. Javier Rendon, a recruitment officer from a POEA-licensed agency, Wise Recruit Corporation has some advice to share for hopeful applicants.

In an interview that is posted in WorkAbroad.ph You Tube Page, the recruitment officer said that their agency considers even fresh college graduates. This means that even jobseekers without work experience have a chance to be short-listed and hired.

They are also not particularly strict when it comes to height requirement as what is more important for them is the applicants’ pleasing personality and effective communication skills. It is also a plus factor if the applicant holds a valid TESDA certificate/s because foreign principals trust the said government institution.

Salary of Waiters in Saudi Arabia

Mr. Rendon also informed that the starting salary for waiters in Saudi Arabia is around Php16,000- Php17, 000. This salary offer includes free food and accommodation. A salary increase can be expected within 3-6 months of employment. Before the completion of the two-year contract, the workers’ salary is expected to be around Php20,000 to Php22,000.

In terms of the required documents, he said that in their agency, an applicant need not prepare all the possible documents that might be needed right away. The first thing that an applicant should be concerned of is his resume. Other employment documents can be taken cared of later once the applicant is selected.

The first basis of recruitment officers in assessing one’s qualification is the resume. So one should exert time and effort to make sure that one’s resume is updated and detailed. It is also wise to put a good and decent-looking picture in their resume. For WorkAbroad.ph applicants, it is important to complete one’s online resume and to keep their account regularly updated.

It also helps if the applicant can readily provide a copy of their employment certificates and training certificates if available.
