Morocco is currently ruled by King Mohammed VI, he took over at age 36 when his father died. The king is responsible for appointing all the ministers. He also serves as the country’s spiritual and military head. According to their constitution, the country must be led by a monarchy but with a parliament and a self-governing judiciary.
Geography
Geographically, Morocco is located in the Northern part of Africa adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The northern area and center region of Morocco are mountainous. The agriculture of the country is most likely to take place in its coast. Jebel Toubkal is the highest point in the country rising to 4, 165 meters. On the other hand, Sebkha Tah is its lowest point at -55 meters below the sea level.
Climate
The climate in the country varies per location. The coast portion of the country experiences warm and dry summers and mild winters. The inland, though, has a very hot climate as it comes nearer to the Sahara Desert.
People
Moroccans are in fact known to be one of the friendliest people in the world. They are naturally hospitable as it is already a vital part of their culture. They may look distant at first and it takes sincerity to become acquaintance and friends with them. You end up getting invited to a Moroccan dinner if you become friends with them. To be polite, it is their tradition to remove shoes before entering the house and also, prepare a gift to bring along with your visit. Moroccans have a propensity to greet foreigners by kissing them on both cheeks.
Languages
The official language used in Morocco is the Arabic Language. The Berber dialect is currently being used as a medium of instruction in most schools in the country. Moroccans use French in business transactions, government and is also included in the curriculum of schools. Spanish is used by people living in the northern part of Morocco.
Religion
Moroccans are religious. They are following Islamic customs and traditions. They pray several times daily and fast during the time of Ramadan. Though women can walk around without their veils, it is still expected for foreigners to adapt to the Moroccan dress code.
