Can an OFW return to KSA after expiration of exit re-entry visa?

  Jun 15, 2016

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia who will return to the Philippines for a vacation will be issued with an exit re-entry visa by their employer or kafeel.

An exit re-entry visa is given to expatriates, like OFWs, who will be leaving KSA temporarily for a vacation in their home country. It is a proof that the worker will come back again to finish the job contract with the employer.

Technically, an expired exit re-entry visa will not allow expatriates to return to KSA. But if the OFWs employer wants him to comeback, the validity of the iqama or muqeem should be checked first. If it is still valid and is under the same visa, the employer can process the documents again within 7 months so the OFW can enter the kingdom once again.

Once the said 7 months has passed and the employer failed to process your documents, the following procedure should be done:

  • The employer should visit the Jawazat office. Fill the form. Submit the documents and obtain a yellow slip.
  • Then the employer must write a request letter to the Saudi Embassy, attested by the Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, allowing the employee to enter KSA after an overstayed vacation.
  • All the documents should be sent to the OFW by the employer.
  • The OFW should then submit these and other necessary documents to the Saudi Embassy in the Philippines.
  • After the Saudi Embassy stamped the OFW’s visa, he must enter the kingdom within 7 days.

As per new law, expatriates like OFWs, who left Saudi Arabia on an exit re-entry visa and failed to return will be banned from re- entering the kingdom for the next three years. Coming back to Saudi on a new visa after the expiration of the exit re-entry visa is a clear violation and will result to a fine of SR10,000 and three-year ban.
