  Aug 12, 2005

Hanapbuhay, Kita, atbp. '05:

Business Opportunities to OFWs, Retirees, Students…

(brough to you by ABS-CBN, DSAP & REMSPEC)

Date: September 2-4, 2005

Venue: at Megatrade Hall 3, Mega B, Megamall

Our Modern-day Heroes

“Don’t wait till your job contract expires or you are retired before you start your business” is the advice given to Overseas Filipino workers, by Desiree Joy Alcala, CEO of Remspec, Inc.,the company organizing the “Hanapbuhay, Kita, atbp ‘05” for ABS-CBN and the Direct Selling Association of the Philippines.

She also adds, “People that work abroad tirelessly go about their daily grind, normally working 10 to 12 hours a day, day in and day out.  More than the usual unpleasant working conditions, underpaid hard labor, racial discrimination and employer abuse…what makes it almost unbearable is the homesick feeling that gnaws at their inner being.  A lot of them cry themselves to sleep when they finally retire at night..or in the wee hours in the morning… looking at their loved ones’ pictures ... saying to themselves that they need to do this sacrifice for their family.  So, they work and send money home, work and send money home, work some more and send money home.

Until finally, their contract expires …  or retirement age comes …or some freak incident forces them to go back to the Philippines. Then, it wouldn’t take a long time before they’ve spent all their savings…so they go back to square one, looking once more for another job opening abroad.  Some though, after realizing how lonely it could be out there just make up their minds to stay here.

Unfortunately, local jobs will be more ellusive because of their age, or because they have not been “practicing professionals” while in foreign placement. They now realize that should they have ventured into some kind of business when they were still gainfully employed and it could have saved them from this time of hardship.”

The Event

This is actually one reason why the Direct Selling Association of the Philippines (DSAP), ABS-CBN and Remspec, Inc., came up with Hanapbuhay, Kita, atbp ‘05, to offer income opportunities to OFWs, the unemployed and under-employed, retirees, students and practically anyone who needs an alternative source of income or a business venture…from no-cash-out to low-capital schemes to lucrative franchise opportunities .  The biggest names in direct, retail and business franchise selling, real estate, insurance, business solutions, job placement firms, business process outsourcing, livelihood training centers and other companies have been invited to exhibit their profit making schemes and career opportunities. There will even be some new gadgets and inventions on display from the Filipino Inventors Society for those who are more interested to distribute the newest product lines and innovations.
