Work Scholarships from the President
May 3, 2006
Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo recognizes the fast growing industry of business process outsourcing (BPO). The President sees its potential to give quality jobs to millions of Filipinos who are either unemployed or underemployed. However, proper skills and training are required to be able to build a career as a call center agent, medical and legal transcriptionist, animators, software developer, and others.
For this reason, the President announces the PGMA Training for Work Scholarships program. This program is not limited to careers in the BPO industry; courses in aviation, hotel and restaurant, agriculture, medical services, and others are also available.
This is a great opportunity because a total of 100,000 full or partial scholarship certificates will be given.
This project aims to:
- provide skills and competencies to job seekers through appropriate training programs that are directly connected to existing jobs for immediate employment;
- empower private education and training institutions to offer relevant training programs that meet job requirements.
