Filipinos are considered as one of the best and said to be the most sought after workers in the global arena. Their work ethics, knowledge and attitude make them stand out among other nationalities.

According to Saudi’s deputy foreign minister for foreign information Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Salama, honesty, friendliness and dependability are among the traits present in OFWs that make them in-demand to Saudi employers.

“Saudi employers prefer Filipinos over other nationalities because of their honesty, friendliness, dependability and most importantly, they don't cheat,” he said.

The ability of Filipinos to speak and understand the universal language is one of their advantages.  

“Filipinos were quick to understand the instructions of their employers,” he also said at the dinner he hosted during the visit of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's in Saudi.

The head of the Saudi Arabian General Investments (SAGIA) also told the President that Filipinos are the first choice of many employers because of the high standard and quality of their work.

In line with this, the President said that she was honored that Saudi officials and businessmen alike spoke highly of Filipino workers. OFWs are acknowledged to have made a big contribution to the economic development of the Kingdom, either industrial, health or service sectors.

Aside from that, Saudi businessmen said that when it comes to talent and good behavior “Filipinos are No. 1.”

Arroyo also said that she finds an opportunity for more Filipinos to work in another economic boom in Saudi Arabia, as well as for Filipino businesses to be involved in such sectors as construction and oil.

With over a million Filipino workers here, the accession of King Abdullah to the throne and Saudi Arabia joining the World Trade Organization, “this is a good time for us to be here. We feel inspired and challenged for more fruitful cooperation,” she said.
