Butchers in-Demand in Australia

Butcher isn’t just a local means of living of the Filipinos nowadays. It has been in-demand in other countries particularly Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Palau, and Australia which is currently in need with this kind of workers.

 

Requirements

  • 18 years experience on the job to be certified by the market/slaughterhouse supervisor or any person of competent authority;
  • must have completed at least third year high school;
  • 30 to 35 years old;

Salary

Estimated P90,000 per month

 

According to Lino Severino, Supervising TESD Specialist of the provincial office of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) butcher and slaughterhouse workers in Australia correspond big salaries.

 

Severino also said that a six weeks training will be given to butchers and slaughterhouse workers after submitting the necessary requirements including the corresponding training package amount of P26,000. The qualified trainee will only pay the amount of P21, 000.00 and the rest will be shouldered by TESDA.

 

After they have finished the six weeks training, butchers and slaughterhouse workers will be assessed by TESDA according to knowledge and skills they acquired during the raining. It also includes their physical and moral fitness for the job bound to Australia.

 

Currently, TESDA is preparing a 160-hour training curriculum to train butchers and slaughterhouse workers with the appropriate techniques, skills and knowledge on butchering and slaughtering.

 

According to statistics given by the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration (POEA), butchering is not only a male work, among the 54 butchers deployed in 2004, four of this are female. And it rev up to 12 out of 61 butchers deployed in 2005.
