Angola needs Filipino Workers

Angola is the leading oil producer in Africa and is recognized as the fastest growing economy in the continent. Due to its rapid economic development, Angola will need Filipino skilled workers such as carpenter, loadmaster, foreman, crane operator, electrician, pipefitter and others.

 

The speedy recovery of Angola’s economy is due to its large oil production. The country produces around 1.4 million barrels of oil per day and its income is great help in road construction and other infrastructure as part of their ambitious development program. Angola’s oil production also helps Filipinos through employment.   

 

Based on the job posted at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration’s (POEA) website, Angola will need some overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to work in their oil and marine industry. Here are the some positions listed in the website, for complete list of jobs please visit their website at www.poea.gov.ph.

v      Ballast Control Operator

v      Captain

v      Skipper

v      Electrician Marine

v      Engineer Geodetic/Cathodic

 

Working Condition

The government of Angola has occupational and safety standards, but the inspector general of the Ministry of Labor does not strictly enforce these standards. Workers have the right to ensure their health and safety without jeopardy to their employment, unfortunately it was not exercise here.

v      The standard workweek is 40 hours.

v      Workers are entitled for 26 hours rest every week.

v      Workers are limited to have 80 hours work per week.

v      There’s a law against excessive overtime but it in not put into practice unless the worker requested that the law should be followed.
