The construction industry in London is booming and the trend is expected to continue in the years to come with an estimated 11 percent increase per year. There are big projects underway such as the the M25 widening, new airport work at Heathrow, and rail projects such as Thameslink and (eventually) Crossrail. Furthermore, the Olympics to be held on 2012 and the Thames Gateway redevelopment would create more construction projects as well

However, construction companies like the of Morgan Est Rail are expressing concern over the lack of skilled workers that will make the roster of projects possible. The wonderful plans to just can’t be realized with the reality of labour shortage. Presently, there is a deficit of 3,000 trained rail engineers and managers a year. They need to recruit workers from others lands to fill various positions in the construction industry. The company Morgan Est, has been actively searching for possible employees in Asia.  

The managing director of Morgan Est Rail, Dany Duggan said, “I can tell you that every client I speak to and all of us on the contracting side are fishing in the same pool with not a lot of resources. All our growth depends on recruiting and retaining the workforce overseas.”
