Extension of Contract for Loyal Workers in Korea

The Korean government values the perseverance and loyalty of an employee to stay with the same employer for a minimum of three consecutive years. To show their appreciation, foreign workers who meet the above criteria can return and work for the same employer for another three-year contract.

 

According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS) who have worked for three consecutive years with only one employer gains an easier way to work again in Korea for another three years.

 

Requirements for Returning Workers:

 

To be issued an E-9, submit the following at the Korean Embassy:

 

Certificate of re-employment for employees whose work authorization has expired

 

Note:

Korean employers who want to extend the contract of an EPS worker issue give the worker a Certificate of Re-employment

 

Certificate of Confirmation of Visa Issuance (CCVI

Payment of visa fee= Php 2,500.

 

To complete the legal process, the returning OFW must also go to the POEA:

 

Secure an exit clearance from the POEA as a balik-manggagawa

Payment of the necessary fees amounting to Php2,275 (includes POEA processing fee, OWWA membership fee and Philhealth annual premium)

 

Viveca Catalig, Deputy Administrator of POEA said that OFWs returning from Korea with a Certificate of Re-employment from their same employer for the past three years can return to work in Korea after only one month.

 

The new scheme will facilitate the re-entry of foreign workers to work in their manufacturing and other industries coming from the 12 countries, including the Philippines.
