  Mar 7, 2008

Korea EPS: Change of Flight Schedule

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced the following change of flight schedule for applicants of Korea’s Employment Permit System:

From March 4 TO March 11, the PDOS/Pre-flight Briefing has been moved to March 7, Friday (Instead of February 29, 2008) in order to meet the minimum number of workers in the training center as advised by HRD Korea.

No Hotel Jobs for OFWs in Israel

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) notified jobseekers against accepting job offers for a hotel in Israel. The Philippine embassy in Tel Aviv contradicts reports that the post is processing job orders for hotel workers.

The embassy in Tel Aviv said in a statement posted on the DFA website, “Everyone is enjoined to immediately report recruitment activities for hotel workers in Israel to the Philippine Embassy or Israel’s Ministry of Labor.”

The embassy said Filipinos who wish to work in Israel should get in touch with the Philippine Embassy and POLO to avoid being victimized by illegal recruiters, to check if the job order is authentic and if the recruitment agency has a POEA license.

Egypt bans foreign domestic helpers
Egypt is not accepting domestic helpers from other countries, including the Philippines, except those who are working for foreign diplomats, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The public is urged to report to POEA any recruitment agency or individual offering jobs for domestic helpers in
Egypt.

Beware of Fake Job Offers in Spain

The POEA warns applicants against accepting offers from a certain Mrs. Garcia Jose who is illegally recruiting Filipino workers for Spain through e-mail. Mrs. Garcia promises employment upon arrival in Spain but the supposed job orders were found to be non-existent and the workers would leave the country using tourist visa.
