Love Letter to Filipinos

In the countries where I’ve lived and worked, all over the Middle East and Asia, it is Filipinos who do all the work and make everything happen. When I am working in a new company abroad, I seek out the Filipino staff when I need help getting something done, and done right. Your international reputation as employees is that you work hard, don’t complain, and are very capable. 
Anti-Trafficking Seminars in Provinces with Widespread Illegal Recruitment

To inform many Filipinos about the reality and dangers of human trafficking, the POEA is set to conduct pre-employment orientation seminars or PEOS about it in ten (10) Philippine provinces where there are many reported cases of illegal recruitment. Some of the provinces where anti-trafficking seminars will be held are Isabela, Quirino, Batangas, and Pampanga.
Survey Says Many OFWs Are Not Satisfied With their Overseas Jobs

In the survey question, “Are You Happy or Satisfied with Your Current Work Abroad,” 68% of the respondents answered “No” which shows that only 32% of them are happy or satisfied with their current overseas post. The said survey was conducted from November 10, 2012 to January 25, 2013.  It also appeared in the Facebook page of WorkAbroad.ph
Salary Increase for Foreign Workers in South Korea

 The government of South Korea is implementing an increase in the salary of all its workers including the foreign workers that are under the Employment Permit System. The good news was announced in the official website of the Labor Department.
POEA Cancels License of Agency Recruiting OFWs in Canada, Ban its Overseas Partner

 An agency that recruits Filipino workers to Canada, Nanhaya International Recruitment, Inc. loses its license for allegedly violating laws on Philippine overseas employment. The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) also bans Go West International, its partner placement agency in Canada from recruiting workers from the Philippines.  
Pinoys Staying Illegally in UAE Can Avail of the Amnesty Program Until Feb 4

 Overstaying Filipinos in United Arab Emirates (UAE) now have a chance to legalize their stay or go back to the Philippines without penalty by taking advantage of the ongoing amnesty program. This program though would only be available until February 4.  
POEA Opens Computer-Based Facility for Korean Language Test

With the aim to make the qualifying process for Employment Permit System (EPS)-Korea faster, a computer-based testing facility for the required Korean language test is now available at the main building of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in Mandaluyong City.  
New Law Lets Undocumented OFWs Legalize Their Status in Italy

The government of Italy implements a new law that would be of advantage to Filipinos who are working without proper documents in their country. The new policy called “Sanatoria” would allow European and Italian employers to apply a work permit for their foreign employees/workers without legal papers.
Salary Increase for Household Workers in Singapore

The Secretary of the Labor Department, Rosalinda Baldoz, lauds the move of Singapore and cited a report from the Association of Licensed Recruitment Agencies for Singapore, Inc., which states that this new development complies with the HSW reform package which sets USD400 as the monthly minimum salary for Filipino HSWs.  
POEA: 8 Foreign Employers Banned from Hiring OFWs, Agency Lose License

Eight (8) foreign employers are no longer allowed to hire workers from the Philippines as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) formally disqualified them from participating in the overseas employment program of the country. The employers are banned because of failure to comply with the Philippine laws on overseas employment, grave misconduct and gross violations of Philippine laws on overseas employment.
