Nature of Job:

Sanitary engineers work for the development and cleanliness with means of sanitation. They apply science and mathematical concepts to their major tasks which is to perform sanitation.

Basic Tasks:

• Design and conceptualize ideas that will be presented to clients.
• Relay tasks to other engineers or workers
• Assist workers in assembling of plumbs, pipes and other materials.
• Communicate with clients or head officers regarding the plan.
• Plan and manage projects.
• Develop a project that will be presented to clients regarding sanitation
• Manage and control materials needed as well as the laborers.
• Draw concepts and plan through Auto Cad.
• Create plan through blueprints.
• Execute and layout projects that will be assigned.

Education and Training Requirements:

• Must hold a degree in Sanitation Engineering.
• Must hold an authentic license issued by the Professional Regulation Commission.
• Must have at least 3-5 years experience as Sanitary Engineer.

Skills and Competency Requirements:

• Knowledge and Ability to create and plan developments for sanitations.
• Knowledge and ability to create plan and strategies for projects.
• Must have the ability to create formulations and system that can be used for the project.
• Knowledge and ability to relay instructions to workers and fellow engineers.
• Ability to manage and execute projects.
• Knowledge in managing materials needed.
• Ability to assist workers.
• Can communicate well.
• Knowledge in creating design using AutoCAD and can read and execute projects from blueprints.

Employment Opportunities:

Engineering jobs remains in demand in such countries in Middle East and US. Despite of the recession, engineers remains as one of the highly needed abroad, and this includes sanitary engineers. The salary given is still one of the highest salaries among industrial jobs.

Work Environment:

Sanitary Engineers work in both office and in field. However, they spent most of the time in field because they have to control and assist their laborers. Sanitary engineers are provided with safety wardrobes and accessories to prevent accidents as they are often exposed to huge and powerful materials and instruments.

Work Hours:

Sanitary engineers often work for 8-10 hours a day.

Career Advancement:

Entry level sanitary engineers who completed good performance and experience can be promoted as Senior Sanitary Engineer or Project Manager.
