Job Description of Medical Representative

Jobs for Medical Representative

Nature of Job:

Medical Representative serves as the link between the pharmaceutical company and prospect clients like hospital and community centers. They sell different kinds of medicines, topical treatments and medical equipments.

 

Basic Tasks:

  • Visit prospect clients to present and make negotiations about the featured product.
  • Sell and give samples to prospect clients.
  • Inform clients about the product’s price, warranty, nutritional value, side effects, and other important information.
  • Make a routine visit to different hospitals and community centers to present the products.
  • Make presentations to clients.
  • Advises customers on the suitable medicines or equipments.
  • Arrange orders and reservations ordered products.
  • Make negotiations with the pharmaceutical company about the price and demand of the customers.

 

Educational and Training Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of B.S. Nursing or Pharmacy and hold relevant license 
  • Must have at least 1-3 years experience in selling medical products and equipments.

 

Skills and Competency Requirements:

  • Must have wide knowledge in pharmaceutical.
  • Ability to sell and persuade people
  • Knowledge in basic medicinal treatments and apparatus
  • Must have knowledge in basic marketing strategies.
  • Must have good communications skills
  • Willing to go and be assigned in far places.
  • Can make good presentations.

 

Employment Opportunities:

Employment for Medical Representatives remains secure and stable. Locally, Medical Representatives are hired via pharmaceutical companies and in BPO’s that caters medical services. Online Medical Representatives are in demand nowadays locally with above minimum salary. Canada and USA and other countries that has an evolving Medical Care Unit also offers good salary for successful Medical Representative Applicants.

 

Work Environment:

Medical Representatives has no permanent workplace because they used to travel in different locations to look for prospect clients. They used to do field works. They often stayed in hospitals and community centers to make presentations or give sample products.

 

Work Hours:

Medical Representatives has flexible working time. Since they just sell and present their products, they can work for no less than 8 hours a day.

 

Career Advancement:

Medical Representatives can be promoted as Sales Executive or Sales Manager in the long run of hard work and commitment.
