Job Description of Cashier

Jobs for Cashier

Nature of Work:

Cashiers are often seen in supermarkets, boutiques, markets and other business establishments that is into selling and purchasing. Their main duty is to receive the payments of the customer.

 

Basic Tasks:

  • Receive the payments of the customer and put it on the safety cabinet or vault.
  • Give change, cheats, receipts, voucher and other billing statement
  • Prepare the bill of the customer
  • Check the items purchased by the customer
  • Receive and process payments via credit card, atm card, and gift certificates
  • Calculate the store earnings for the day and encode it on the computer.
  • Report errors or failure to the store manager regarding the payments
  • Turn over the earnings to the store manager
  • Courteously greet the customer

 

Educational and Training Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of any 2 or 4 year course
  • Must have at least experience working as a store or boutique cashier

 

Skills and Competency Requirements:

  • Must have knowledge in customers service
  • Knowledge in basic Mathematics
  • Good analytical skills
  • Must have good communication skills knowledge in speaking English
  • Must be highly motivated and must be keen to details
  • Must be trustworthy
  • Must have pleasing personality

 

Employment Opportunity:

All customer-related jobs are highly needed in the Middle East including cashier position. 

 

Work Environment:

Cashier works non-stop, especially in department stores or dupermarkets. They have their respective cubicle inside the store that is complete with their needs in encoding and receiving payments. They may experience stress in the beginning particularly when the store is on sale. However, they can cope up with it in the long run.

 

Work Hours:

Cashiers often work for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.

 

Career Advancement:

Cashiers can be promoted as the Trainee supervisor or Store Supervisor in the long process of good record of commitment in the company and with good working records.
